Victoza® is the brand name for the drug liraglutide, developed and marketed by Novo Nordisk. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the drug in January, 2010.
In a lawsuit involving injuries caused by dangerous or defective products, including Victoza®, you can seek damages against anyone in the “chain of distribution,” including the manufacturer, any testing lab or facility, the doctor or physician who prescribed it, a pharmaceutical sales representative, a hospital, clinic or pharmacy that dispensed it.
In 2009, before the FDA approved Victoza® for use, an FDA advisory panel expressed concern that lab rats treated with the drug had developed tumors, including thyroid lesions. As a result, Novo Nordisk was required to add a warning to the product label. The FDA currently has the drug in a registry for ongoing monitoring for a period of 15 years.
